La primera medallista de la delegación española en estos Juegos, Mireia Belmonte, ha conseguido clasificarse para la final de 800 metros libres de los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres al firmar un tiempo de 8:25.26 y ser la segunda mejor marca de su serie, mientras que la capitana del equipo de natación español Erika Villaecija no corrió la misma suerte y se ha quedado fuera de la final con un tiempo de 8:27.99.
Villaécija, por su parte estuvo luchando por la tercera plaza y finalizó cuarta de su serie, con un tiempo insuficiente para la final, y ahora deberá centrarse en la prueba de 10 kilómetros de aguas abiertas.
De esta manera, Belmonte disputará las finales este viernes a las 20.45 horas con la cuarta mejor marca
